03/07/2007

Mountain Cat senior outfielder Adam Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.) went 4-for-4 with four doubles to lead the Mountain Cats to a 9-6 win over C.W. Post in Wednesday's opener in Fort Pierce, Fl. However, Pitt Johnstown fell 5-2 to Concordia (NY) College in the day's second game. The Mountain Cats are now 2-5.
Along with Plummers' effort, senior first baseman Bill Colosimo (Summerhill, Pa.) was 3-for-4 and freshman infielder Dan Mangini (Lower Burrell, Pa.) had three hits and a pair of RBI. Junior second baseman Dan Delsignore (Johnstown, Pa.) added two hits and two runs scored. Head Coach Todd Williams also got seven innings of work and a victory from junior right hander Zach Toth (Sarver, Pa.) in the nine-inning game. Toth gave up six runs and scattered seven hits, while striking out eight C.W. Post hitters.
In Wednesday's second game, Concordia got five runs and eight hits in four innings off of sophomore Garrett Pampiks (Gibsonia, Pa.) to earn the 5-2 win. Plummer chipped in two more hits and an RBI, while Colosimo went 2-for-3 and freshman infielder Josh Campanella (Allison Park, Pa.) collected two hits.
The Mountain Cats finish their trip to Florida with a nine-inning game against Concordia Thursday morning, before opening up the WVIAC conference schedule with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at Bluefield State (WV) College.
