04/10/2007

Head Coach Todd William's Mountain Cat baseball team traveled to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Tuesday and suffered a 5-1 and 10-3 doubleheader sweep. With the losses, Pitt Johnstown is now 12-15.
In Tuesday's opener, Alderson-Broaddus broke open a 3-1 game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim the 5-1 win. Freshman outfielder Brad Dale (Windber, Pa.) drove in the Mountain Cats' lone run. Sophomore right hander Chuck Boring (Dilltown, Pa.) gave up three runs on four hits in three innings of work. Boring, who fell to 3-1 on the year, also struck out three.
In the nightcap, freshman third baseman Josh Campanella (Allison Park, Pa.) and Bill Colosimo (Summerhill, Pa.) each had two hits, but the Battlers earned the sweep with a 10-3 victory. Senior right hander Zach Stere (Bellwood, Pa.) suffered the loss and fell to 2-3 after giving up seven runs on seven hits in three innings-pitched.
With the sweep, Alderson-Broaddus improved to 16-3 and swept all four games against Pitt Johnstown this season.
The Mountain Cats travel to Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Thursday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Weekend with a four-game WVIAC conference series against West Virginia State University on Saturday and Sunday. Both home doubleheaders will start at 1:00 p.m. at George R. Walter Field.
