Mountain Cats Sweep Seton Hill to Open WVIAC Series;

Chirs Turka's (Natrona Heights, Pa.) sacrifice fly scored Matt Petrowsky (Johnstown, Pa) in the bottom of the seventh to cap a Mountain Cat comeback in a 4-3 win to open a WVIAC series against Seton Hill University on Saturday at Johnstown's Point Stadium. In the nightcap, freshman Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) surrenderd just three hits in six-plus innings to lead Pitt Johnstown to a 3-2 win. Pitt Johnstown clinched a WVIAC play-off berth and is now 30-15-1 overall and 10-4 in the WVIAC Northern Division.
In game one, the Mountain Cats fell behind 3-0 in the third inning, before Josh Campanella's (Allison Park, Pa.) RBI single scored Dan DelSignore (Johnstown, Pa.) to cut the lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning. Pitt Johnstown tied the score on Justin Demek's (Cabot, Pa.) two-run double to left center in the sixth inning. Then with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh Turka's fly out to right field scored Petrowsky, who doubled off of the left firld screen to lead off the inning, to give Pitt Johnstown the come-from-behind win. Junior right hander Eric Faint (Johnstown, Pa.) pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning to earn the win in relief of Ben Watkins (Johnstown, Pa.). Faint struck out one and didn't allow a hit to improve to 2-1. Watkins got the no-decision after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings of work. Watkins also fanned four. Campanella finished 2-for-3 with a RBI.
In game two, Pitt Johnstown built a 3-0 lead with three straight doubles and a single in the third inning, before holding on for the 3-2 win. DelSignore, Petrowsky and Campanella all doubled, and Adam Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.) singled home Campanella to put the Mountain Cats up 3-0. The Griffins added an unearned run in the fifth inning and a run in the seventh inning. Seton Hill opended the seventh inning with a single and a walk off of Moore, before Chuck Boring (Dilltown, Pa.) walked one and hit another to force in a run. However, Boring struckout the next two and got a fly out to seal the victory and pick-up his third save of the year. Moore improved to 6-0 after giving up two runs on three hits in six-plus innings. Moore also struck out four and walked one. Campanella and Plummer each had a pair of hits and an RBI in the victory.
With the losses, Seton Hill slipped to 21-20 overall and 8-6 in WVIAC Northern Division play.
The Mountain Cats will celebrate Senior Day and have a Community Picnic with a WVIAC doubleheader against Seton Hill University on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Johnstown's Point Stadium. Pitt Johnstown will then break for Finals Week.
