Baseball Defeats Davis & Elkins and Manhattanville on Spring Trip

The Mountain Cat baseball team battled back from a 10-2 deficit in the sixth inning to defeat Davis & Elkins (WV) College, 14-13, before handing Manhattanville (NY) College a 15-6 loss on Wednesday in Fort Pierce, FL. Head Coach Todd Williams' team has won four straight games and is now 7-3 on the season.
Freshman Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) went 3-for-5 with four RBI and senior first baseman Casey Long (Johnstown, Pa.) was 3-for-4 with a double in the win over Davis & Elkins. Junior outfielder Adam Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.) and junior catcher Paul Pentz (Johnstown, Pa.) each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, while sophomore second baseman Dan Delsignore (Johnstown, Pa.) finished 2-for-3 three with a double. Sophomore right hander David Huey (Glen Campbell, Pa.) pitched two innings of relief to earn the victory.
In game two, Hanley hit a two run homerun and had four more RBI, and Pentz drove in three runs, including a two-run homer. Sophomore Chris Turka (Natrona Heights, Pa.) and junior Bill Colosimo (Summerhill, Pa.) banged out three hits apiece, while Plummer and Delsignore combined for four hits and five RBI in the win over Manhattanville. Freshman right hander Aarol Elliott (Genesee, Pa.) earned his first collegiate victory on the mound.
The Mountain Cats continue their Spring Trip in Fort Peirce, FL on Thursday with a single game against Northland (WI) College at 7:00, before wrapping up this year's Spring Trip with a doubleheader against Felician (NJ) College on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
