Mountain Cat Baseball Team Drops Two Games at West Virginia State

04/16/2005

Head Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cat baseball team suffered a pair of losses on Saturday to open a four-game series at West Virginia State University, the top-ranked team in the North Atlantic Region. With the six lost games restored by the NCAA, Pitt Johnstown is now 22-14, while West Virginia State improved to 27-12.
In game one, the Mountain Cats fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, before the wheels came off and Pitt Johnstown suffered a 24-0 defeat. In Saturday's nightcap, the Mountain Cats played much better, but still took a 4-3 loss. Senior left hander Ryan Harner (Dauphin, Pa.) gave up four runs in a complete-game effort, but took the loss and dropped to 5-2 on the year. Sophomore second baseman Dan Delsignore (Johnstown, Pa.) was 2-for-3, including his first homerun as a Mountain Cat, and senior third baseman Anthony Yarkowski (Homer City, Pa.) added a solo homer.
Pitt Johnstown wraps up its four-game series at West Virginia State on Sunday, before hosting Fairmont State (WV) College on Wednesday and Lock Haven University on Thursday. Both home doubleheaders will start at 1:00 p.m.
