Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College's Michael Wilson scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Battlers to a 2-0 WVIAC victory over the Mountain Cat soccer team, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats, who dropped their second straight conference match, fell to 3-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the WVIAC.
After a scoreless first half, Wilson took Paul Agedegbe's cross through defenders and beat Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) in the 47th minute to give Alderson-Broaddus a 1-0 lead. Wilson then added an insurance goal for the Battlers with three minutes to play. Michael McDermott sent a pass through the box and Wilson dribbled through defenders and found the back of the net to set the final at 2-0.
Neff faced 11 shots and made four saves, but suffered the loss and slipped to 3-6-0. Pitt-Johnstown got off 17 shots on Josh Teets, who made three saves, to earn the shutout and improve to 2-0-0 for the Battlers.
Alderson-Broaddus raised its record to 3-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.
The Mountain Cats host WVIAC matches against Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday and Salem International (WV) University on Tuesday. Both matches are scheduled to kick-off at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
