Swope's OT Goal Lifts Mountain Cats over No. 14 WV Wesleyan

Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.) scored six minutes into the second overtime to break a scoreless tie and lift the Mountain Cat soccer team to a 1-0 victory over WVIAC rival and No. 14-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan College, Saturday evening at Johnstown's Point Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 5-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the WVIAC.
After the Mountain Cats used a long clearing pass, Swope stole the ball off of a West Virginia Wesleyan defender and chipped it over goalkeeper Ryan McDougall in the 106th minute to give Pitt-Johnstown the victory.
Mountain Cat goalkeeper Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) improved to 5-2-0 after facing 27 Bobcat shots and making nine saves. McDougall took the loss. McDougall saw 13 Pitt-Johnstown shots and made four saves.
With the loss, West Virginia Wesleyan fell to 4-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play.
The Mountain Cats travel to Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for a WVIAC match on Wednesday, before hosting a conference match against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
