Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Visiting La Roche

10/10/2006

Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat soccer team surrendered a goal in the third minute of the match and suffered a 1-0 home loss to visiting La Roche College, Tuesday afternoon. Pitt Johnstown is now 6-6-1 on the season.
It didn't take long for La Roche to score the game winning goal. At the 2:42 mark of the first half, Goran Rashan took a deflection and beat Mountain Cat freshman goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) to give La Roche a 1-0 lead. The teams battled back and forth, but the Mountain Cats, despite holding a 21-16 advantage in shots, were never able to beat La Roche goalkeeper Evan Russell and dropped their second straight match.
Junior midfielder Alex Gatti (Indiana, Pa.) paced Pitt Johnstown with five shots, including three shots on goal, while sophomore forward Jay Swope (Indiana, Pa.) added five shots and one shot on goal in the loss.
Neff made seven saves but took the loss and fell to 5-6-1.
With the victory, La Roche improved to 5-9-0 on the year.
The Mountain Cats travel to West Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday, before returning home to host Wheeling Jesuit University on Wednesday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m.
