Men's Soccer Falls at Home to Charleston

The University of Charleston (WV) built a 4-0 lead and earned a 4-1 victory over the Mountain Cat men's soccer team, Tuesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown soccer field. Cory Winwood (Harwick, Pa.) scored Pitt-Johnstown's lone goal. With the loss, the Mountain Cats dropped to 3-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the WVIAC.
Charleston climbed out to a 3-0 halftime lead, highlighted by a pair of headers off of throw-ins by Kyle Klingensmith. The Golden Eagles increased the lead to 4-0 in the 71st minute when Dion Peters beat Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) to the far corner. Canter finished with a goal and two assists.
Pitt-Johnstown notched its only goal and set the final score at 4-1 when Winwood took a cross from Joe Cronan (Indiana, Pa.) and found the net in the 74th minute.
Neff faced 16 shots and made six saves, but fell to 3-5-0. Charleston goalkeeper Jermain McKenzie gave up one goal and made one save to secure the win.
With the victory, Charleston improved to 1-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown will host Lake Erie (OH) College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Concord (WV) University on Sunday at noon.
