Mountain Cats Suffer 2-0 Loss at West Virginia Wesleyan

West Virginia Wesleyan College tallied a pair of goals in a two minute span early in the second half to break a scoreless tie and deal the Mountain Cat soccer team a 2-0 road loss, Saturday evening in Buckhannon, WV. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 3-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the WVIAC.
Michael Scruggs put West Virginia Wesleyan up 1-0 five minutes into the second half after he took Matthew Brown's cross and beat Mountain Cat goalkeeper Nolan Levine (McDonald' Pa.).
Two minutes later, Daniel Smee capitalized on a penalty kick to increase the Bobcats' lead and set the final at 2-0.
Levine faced 18 West Virginia Wesleyan shots and made six saves, but suffered the loss and slipped to 3-3-0. Ryan McDougle saw four Mountain Cats shots and made four saves to secure the shutout.
With the win, West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 7-1-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats will host a conference match against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Lincoln University on Friday and to Washington Adventist (D.C.) University on Sunday, October 3.
