Mountain Cats Cruise to 7-0 at Lincoln

The Mountain Cat soccer team tallied three goals in the first nine minutes and added four more in the second half en route to a 7-0 non-conference victory at Lincoln University, Saturday afternoon. Zeke Buchta (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) and Clay Kubrick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each had a goal and an assist for Pitt-Johnstown, now 5-4-0 overall.
Buchta opened the scoring off of Kubrick's cross six minutes into the match, before Marc Bucci (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored unassisted with a blast from the top of the box a minute later. Pitt-Johnstown quickly made it 3-0 when J.P. Shantz (Nazareth, Pa.) finished Bucta's throw-in in the ninth minute.
The Mountain Cats tacked on four more goals in the second half. Kubrick scored on a free-kick in the 58th minute, and Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.) turned Riley McConnell's (Beach Lake, Pa.) lead pass into a breakaway and found the back of the net in the 59th minute.
Pitt-Johnstown set the final at 7-0 with goals from Tyler Rothbauer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Kevin Kearney (Wexford, Pa.) in the 79th and 87th minutes.
Nolan Levine (McDonald, Pa.) and Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each played a half to share the shutout in goal.
With the loss, Lincoln fell to 1-3-0.
The Mountain Cats host nationally-ranked University of Charleston (WV) for a WVIAC match on Sunday, October 10 at 2 p.m. and La Roche College on Wednesday, October 13 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
