Men's Soccer Falls, 4-1, to No. 4 Charleston

Dan Walmsley and Dion Peters each scored two goals to help NSCAA No 4-ranked University of Charleston (WV) run out to a 4-0 lead 24 minutes into the match and lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 victory over the Mountain Cat soccer team, Sunday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.) scored on a penalty kick for the Mountain Cats, who fell to 5-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the WVIAC.
Walmsley scored two minutes into the match off of an assist from Peters, before he added his second goal of the day off of a rebound in the 11th minute. Peters then followed with back-to-back goals in the 14th and 24th minutes to give the Golden Eagles a 4-0 halftime advantage.
The Mountain Cats got its lone goal of the match and made it 4-1 when Swope found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
Nolan Levine (McDonald, Pa.) and Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each played a half in goal for Pitt-Johnstown. Levine faced 13 shots and made five saves, but surrendered all four goals. Cuccaro saw nine shots, made six saves and didn't allow a goal.
With the win, Charleston improved to 8-2-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats host a non-conference match against La Roche College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College for a WVIAC match on Saturday.
