Men's Soccer Shuts Out La Roche, 4-0

Clay Kubrick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a goal and an assist as the Mountain Cat soccer team tallied a pair of goals in each half on its way to a 4-0 non-conference shutout over La Roche College, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats improved to 6-5-0.
Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.) gave Pitt-Johnstown a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when he took Kubick's through ball and turned it into a breakaway goal. Kubrick followed with a goal of his own nine minutes later off of Zeke Buchta's (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) cross to make it 2-0 at halftime.
The Mountain Cats came out in the second half and added goals by Steve Taslov (Coraopolis, Pa.) and Josh Wentz (Wallenpaupack, Pa.) in the 57th and 84th minutes to set the final at 4-0.
Nolan Levine (McDonald, Pa.) made one save in the first half, and Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made three second half saves to share the shutout in goal for Pitt-Johnstown.
With the loss, La Roche's four-match unbeaten streak came to an end, and the Redhawks fell to 3-10-1.
The Mountain Cats travel to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College for a WVIAC match on Saturday, before returning home to host a WVIAC match against Seton Hill University and celebrate SeniorDay on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
