Arik Misler's Goal Lifts Mountain Cats to Win Over Point Park

10/24/2007

Mountain Cat junior forward Arik Misler (Johnstown, Pa.) found the back of the net with 10 minutes to play to break a scoreless tie and lead the Mountain Cat men's soccer team to a 1-0 home, non-conference win over Point Park University, Wednesday afternoon. Pitt Johnstown is now 10-5-2 on the season.
The Mountain Cats, who outshot Point Park 27-6 and held a 16-2 advantage in shots on-goal, broke the 0-0 tie on Misler's team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 80th minute. Red-shirt goalkeeper Michael LoPresti (Karns City, Pa.) combined with sophomore Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) to make the match's lone goal stand-up. LoPresti was forced to make just two saves to improve to 2-1-0 on the year.
The Pioneers, who dropped to 4-13-0, got 15 saves from goalkeeper Steve Fabian in the loss.
The Mountain Cats finish the regular season with a non-conference match at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, before playing in the WVIAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
