Women's Soccer Suffers 3-0 Loss at Concord in First Round of WVIAC Tournament

Despite holding an 18-17 advantage in shots and a 12-10 advantage in shots on-goal, the Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team's season came to an end with a 3-0 loss at Concord (WV) University in Tuesday's First Round of the 2007 WVIAC Tournament. Head Coach Crystal Dye's team finished with an 8-13-0 overall record and a 4-9-0 record in the WVIAC.
Pitt Johnstown battled Concord to a scoreless tie through the first 40 minutes of the match until Lindsey DeVaughn took a pass from Gemma Nortcliffe and found the back of the net to give Concord a 1-0 lead. The Mountain Lions added a goal by Laura Cloone in the 44th minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead. Then, with 12 minutes left in the match, Leslie Kirk scored a goal to set the final score at 3-0.
Sophomore Lindsay Plowman (Apollo, Pa.) led Pitt Johnstown with four shots on-goal, while Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Chrissy Burnsworth (McKeesport, Pa.) each had three shots on-goal.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) made seven saves, but suffered the loss and dropped to 6-10-0. Concord got 12 saves in the shutout from Sarah Coelho.
With the win, the Mountain Lions are now 12-7-1 overall.
