Lady Cat Soccer Falls to #7 West Virginia Wesleyan

The Lady Cat soccer team trailed #7-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan College by just two goals at halftime, but the Bobcats added three more in the second half to defeat Pitt-Johnstown 5-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Lady Cats dropped to 2-8-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the WVIAC.
West Virginia Wesleyan opened the scoring on Katie Schubert's goal in the 22nd minute, before taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break when Hannah Macormic found the back of the net in the 40th minute of play. The Bobcats tallied three more goals in the second half, including Macormic's second of the day in the 77th minute, to set the final score at 5-0.
Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) faced 14 shots and made six saves, but took the loss and fell to 2-6-0. Caroline Lalley saw 10 Lady Cat shots and had to make five saves to earn the shutout and improve to 8-0-0.
With the win, West Virginia Wesleyan stayed unbeaten and improved to 9-0-0 overall and 5-0-0 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to Ohio Valley (WV) University on Friday and to Concord (WV) University on Sunday for WVIAC matches. Pitt-Johnstown will return home to host WVIAC rival Seton Hill University on Thursday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m.
