Lady Cats Dealt 7-1 Loss By Concord

Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) gave the Lady Cat soccer team a 1-0 lead two minutes into the match, but Concord (WV) University scored seven unanswered goals the rest of the way to hand Pitt-Johnstown a 7-1 WVIAC loss, Tuesday afternoon at Johnstown's Point Stadium. The Lady Cats dropped to 8-9-0 overall and 4-5-0 in conference play.
Kelly took Lindsey Roessler's (Chalfont, Pa.) pass into the box and beat Concord goalkeeper Kacey Hilldebrand to give the Lady Cats the early lead.
However, it was all Concord the rest of the way. Gemma Nortcliffe tied the match a minute later, before Katie Cuviello gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good with a goal in the 12th minute.
Concord closed out the match with five second half goals, including a pair by Lindsey DeVaughn, to set the final at 7-1.
Nortcliffe finished with two goals and an assist, while DeVaughn had two goals. Cuviello added a goal and a pair of assists.
Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after surrendering all seven goals. Paha faced 17 shots and made five saves. Hilldebrand earned the win for Concord after giving up just one goal and making five saves in 77 minutes of action. Emily Gallaher played the final 13 minutes and made one save.
Concord improved to 10-6-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats end the 2009 regular season with a WVIAC match at Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Saturday.
