Lady Cat Soccer Falls at Home to WV Wesleyan

Katie Roberts and Rachel Ritchey each scored second half goals to lead West Virginia Wesleyan College to a 2-0 WVIAC victory over the Lady Cats, Saturday night at Johnstown's Point Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the WVIAC.
After a scoreless first half, West Virginia Wesleyan got on the scoreboard six minutes into the second half when Roberts took a rebound and beat Lady Cat goalkeeper Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) to the far right post.
Ritchey added an unassisted goal in the 87th minute to increase the lead and set the fianl a 2-0.
Der Vanik faced 18 West Virginia Wesleyan shots and made seven saves, but allowed both goals to suffer the loss. Caroline Lalley earned the shutout in net for the Bobcats after seeing just two Lady Cat shots.
With the win, West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The Lady Cats travel to Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for a WVIAC match on Wednesday, before hosting a conference match against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
