Women's Soccer Defeats Point Park, 2-0 for Third Straight Shutout

Sophomore forward Chrissy Burnsworth (McKeesport, Pa.) netted two goals, and red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) made three saves to lead the Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team to its third consecutive shutout victory. This time Pitt Johnstown dealt visiting Point Park Univesity a 2-0 loss, Saturday afternoon to improve to 3-0-0.
Burnsworth netted her first goal and got Pitt Johnstown on the scoreboard in the 35th minute off of a corner kick. Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the corner kick that bounced Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) onto Burnsworth's foot, who beat Point Park goalkeeper Emily Temalewski. Ten minutes later, Burnsworth scored unnassisted from a rebound off of a blocked shot to give Pitt Johnstown a lead it would never give up.
Paha, who earned her second shutout, improved to 3-0 after facing seven shots and making three saves.
Pitt Johnstown outshot the Pioneers, 31-7 for the match, including holding a 10-3 advantage in shots on-goal.
Pitt Johnstown will host Shepherd (WV) University in a WVIAC conference match on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., before traveling to the University of Findlay (OH) Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
