Women's Soccer Suffers 4-1 Loss at West Virginia Wesleyan

The Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team traveled to West Virginia Wesleyan for a WVIAC conference match, Tuesday afternoon and surrendered four first half goals in a 4-1 loss. Pitt Johnstown in now 6-6-0 overall and 2-3-0 in WVIAC play.
The Bobcats scored unassisted goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes to take a 2-0 lead. West Virginia Wesleyan then added two more first half goals in the 26th and 33rd minutes to take a 4-0 halftime lead. The score remained the same until Pitt Johnstown freshman midfielder Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tallied an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute to get Pitt Johnstown on the scoreboard and set the final score at 4-1.
Pitt Johnstown freshman goalkeeper Brittany Pryde (Fairhope, Pa.) faced 13 shots and made six saves, but gave up four goals to fall to 2-2-0. West Virginia Wesleyan goalkeepers Lauren Hessian and Savannah Dempsey each played 45 minutes in the victory. Hessian didn't have to make a save, while Dempsey made three saves and gave up one goal.
With the victory, the Bobcats improved to 9-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the WVIAC.
Pitt Johnstown travels to Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday for a WVIAC conference match, before returning home to host Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for another conference match on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
