Women's Soccer Falls 5-0 at West Virginia Wesleyan

West Virginia Wesleyan College built a 3-0 halftime lead and added two more goals in the second half on its way to handing the Lady Cat soccer team a 5-0 road loss on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown fell to 1-6-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the WVIAC.
West Virginia Weselyan opened the scoring in the 13th minute on a Sarah Snyder goal, before adding two more before the end of the first half. Hannah Macormic scored off of an assist from Snyder in the 19th minute, and Zania Thomas made it 3-0 off of a cross from Marissa Wright in the final two minutes of the half.
The Bobcats came out in the second half and extended the lead to 4-0 on Wright's goal in the 77th minute, before Snyder notched her second goal of the game two minutes later and set the final score at 5-0.
Pitt-Johnstown, which was outshot 21-1, got seven saves from Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.), but Der Vanik gave up all five goals and fell to 1-6-0.
West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 5-3-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats return home to host a conference match against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Penn-State-DuBois for a non-conference match on Saturday.
