Pentz, a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and a three-time ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District selection, finished with a 3.91 overall G.P.A. in Electrical Engineering Technology. Pentz joins 2002 First Team Academic All-American Mike Shumaker (Myersdale, Pa.) and Third Team Academic All-Americans Josh Day (2000) (Johnstown, Pa.) and Bob Ritter (2003) (Johnstown, Pa.) as the only Pitt Johnstown baseball players to garner the honor.

He was also fourth on the team in runs batted-in (21), doubles (6) and runs scored (22) and sixth in hits (36). Pentz also had two homeruns and two triples.
Pentz, who earned this year's Pitt Johnstown Lowell Shaffer Student-Athlete Award, is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He also received the WVIAC Male Student-Athlete Award in March.
Joining Pentz on this year's Academic All-America Third Team include: pitchers Patrick Larm (Rockhurst), Paige Dumont (Sonoma State) and Riley Bosch (St. Thomas (MN) Univ.), infielders Darin Mastroianni (Southern Indiana), Justin Funk (Oklahoma City Univ.), Bennett Mayfield (Augusta State) and Dan Weitzel (St. Norbert), outfielders Richard Hurd (Rhodes Coll.), Kirby Carr (Bethel (MN)) and Rob Pietroforte (Johns Hopkins) and designated hitter Josh Carter (Mount Olive).
Ashland (OH) University's Casey Jirsa was named the 2007 College Division Academic All-American of the Year. Jirsa, a senior infielder from Tallmadge, OH, posted a 3.87 overall G.P.A. in Accounting.
The members of the College Sports Information Directors' of America (CoSIDA) selected the First, Second and Third Team Academic All-Americans.
