#4 Pitt-Johnstown Wrestlers Post 2-0 Record at Home Tri-Match With Old Dominion and Delaware Valley

Head Coach Pat Pecora and the NCAA Division II #4-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers posted a 2-0 record with wins over NCAA Division I Old Dominion University and NCAA Division III #4-ranked Delaware Valley in Friday's tri-match in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown defeated Old Dominion 39-9 and handed Delaware Valley a 35-9 setback.
Junior All-American Thad Benton (141 lbs.) (Claysburg, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel H.S.), and sophomores Eli Garshnick (174 lbs.) (Armagh, Pa./United H.S.) and Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) (Carrolltown, Pa./Cambria Heights H.S.) all won both of their matches by fall, while senior All-Americans Ryan Ickes (149 lbs.) (Claysburg, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel H.S.) and Howard Bell (HWT.) (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford H.S.) each collected two wins to help lead the Mountain Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown trailed Delaware Valley 6-4 after two matches, but roared back to win seven of the next eight matches to put the Aggies away. The Mountain Cats also fell behind Old Dominion 6-0, but once again, stormed back by winning eight of the next nine matches.
In Friday's third match, Old Dominion defeated Delaware Valley 29-19.
With the two victories, Pitt-Johnstown rebounded from Wednesday's loss at #8 Mercyhurst College to raise its record to 6-2 on the season. Old Dominion is 1-1, while Delaware Valley dropped to 0-2 on the year.
