Nicole Carman scored 14 points to become the 34
th Lady Cat to reach the 1,000-point plateau, but California University (PA) built a 19-point first half lead and went on to deal Pitt-Johnstown an 83-60 PSAC road loss on Wednesday. The Lady Cats had their five-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC West.

Carman, who needed four points to reach 1,000 for her career, scored 14 and currently ranks 33
rd on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,010 points. She is 25 points away from Deb Deaner (1975-79) for 32
nd on the list. In addition, she grabbed nine rebounds and ranks 21
st on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 558.

Two baskets to start from
Jasmine Harper gave the Lady Cats an early lead, but it was all California (PA) after that. The Vulcans took advantage of 20 first half Pitt-Johnstown turnovers and turned them into 20 points on their way to building a 17-point halftime advantage.

After falling behind by four to begin, California (PA) used a28-8 run to build a 16-point advantage on Miki Glenn's 3-pointer midway through the half.

Kaitlynn Fratz's free-throw four minutes later extended the Vulcans' lead to 19, before Carman reached the 1,000-point milestone with a jumper at the 2:23 mark to cut the Lady Cat deficit to 33-18.

However, an offensive rebound and bucket from Lana Duran at the buzzer closed out the first half and gave California (PA) a 39-22 lead.

Three-pointers from
Kayla DeCriscio and
Olivia Rizzo, followed a few minutes later by another basket from Carman got Pitt-Johnstown to within 14 at 50-36 with 12:32 to play.

California (PA) never let the Lady Cats get any closer the rest of the way. The Vulcans answered with a 14-5 spurt over the next three minutes to push the lead to 64-41. California (PA)'s lead swelled to as many as 28 with 1:16 remaining, before the Vulcans coasted to the 23-point victory.

Carman's 14 points and nine rebounds led the way for Pitt-Johnstown. DeCriscio hit 3-4 from 3-point range and finished with 11 points, while Harper had 10 points. The Lady Cats also got nine points from
Dominique Smith and seven points from Rizzo in the loss.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 40.4% (21-52) from the field, 7-22 from behind the 3-point line, and 11-13 from the free-throw line. California (PA) ended the night shooting 43.6% (34-78) from the floor, but just 1-15 from 3-point range, and 14-24 from the charity stripe.

Glenn had a game-high 29 points, and Emma Mahady scored 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead four Vulcans who scored in double figures. With the win, California (PA) improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC-West.

The Lady Cats returning home to host a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Seton Hill on Saturday. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
