Lady Cats Fall 94-65 at California (PA)

California University (PA) used a 26-9 run over the final eight minutes of the first half to open up a 16-point halftime advantage on its way to handing the Lady Cats a 94-65 PSAC West road loss on Wednesday.  Nicole Carman scored 16 points, and Leah Hansen added 15 points for Pitt-Johnstown, which fell to 9-15 overall and 6-8 in conference-play.
 
Inaya Stephenson's bucket with 7:52 remaining in the first half gave the Lady Cats their first and only lead of the night at 20-19.
 
The Vulcans responded by outscoring Pitt-Johnstown 26-9 the rest of the way.  Elena Antonenko basket in the paint pushed California Pa.'s lead into double figures, before two free-throws with two seconds left from Kate Seebohm put the Vulcans in front 45-29 at the break.
 
It was all California (PA) the rest of the way.
 
CeCe Dixon's basket with just under eight minutes to play increased the Vulcans lead to 30, before California (PA) coasted to the 29-point victory.
 
Carman had 16 points and Hansen finished with 15 points to account for the only Lady Cats to score in double figures.  Dominique Smith chipped-in seven points off the bench, and Kelsey Sleighter added six points in the loss.
 
Pitt-Johnstown ended the night shooting 48.1% (25-52) from the field, 8-21 from 3-point range, and 7-9 from the charity stripe.  California (PA) shot 45.9% (34-74) from the floor, 3-7 from behind the 3-point line, and 23-30 from the free-throw line.
 
Seebohm scored a game-high 23 points and Miki Glenn tallied 21 points to lead four Vulcans who scored in double figures.
 
California (PA) improved to 17-7 overall and 11-4 in the PSAC West.
 
Rachel Johnson is in 18th-place on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 577, while Carman ranks 29th on the rebounding list with 468.
 
 
The Lady Cats return home to celebrate Senior Day with the Mountain Cats against conference rival Gannon University on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before closing out the regular season at Mercyhurst University on Wednesday.
