#19 Shippensburg Downs Mountain Cats, 11-4

19th-ranked Shippensburg University built a four-run lead after six innings, before adding five more unearned runs in the eighth to deal the Mountain Cats an 11-4 non-conference road loss on Wednesday. Mike Palkovitz had two hit and drove in a run for Pitt-Johnstown, which slipped to 5-10 on the year.

Along with Palkovitz, Kyle Morrow and Matt McMillen each had a hit ad an RBI for the Mountain Cats.

Pitt-Johnstown used eight pitchers in the game, but Nate Pope suffered the loss after surrendering three runs on two hits in the second inning after the Mountain Cats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. Andrew Keirn allowed five unearned runs in the eight inning that broke the game open.

With he win, Shippensburg improved to 12-3.

The Mountain Cats open the PSAC schedule with a doubleheader against Seton Hill University on Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium, before traveling to Greensburg to finish the four-game conference series with the Griffins on Saturday.
