Baseball Splits With Post to Open Spring Trip

After suffering a 2-1 loss in Sunday's opener in Fort Pierce, Fla. the Mountain Cats bounced back with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a 1-0 victory and a doubleheader split with Post (CT) University.  Pitt-Johnstown is now 3-7.
 
In game one, Kyle Morrow went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Mountain Cats.  Mike Palkovitz and Brett Marabito added two hits apiece.
 
John Fees suffered the loss and dropped to 0-4.  Fees tossed a complete-game and surrendered just two unearned runs on five hits.  He also walked one and fanned six.
 
In the nightcap, Nate Pope scored on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh to lead Pitt-Johnstown to the 1-0 win.
 
Matt McGhee and Pope each had two hits for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Derek Younker improved to 2-2 with a complete-game, six-hit shutout.  Younker also struck out six and didn't allow a walk.
 
With the split, Post is now 3-8 on the year.
 
The Mountain Cats continue their spring trip in Florida against Northwood (FL) University on Monday and Palm Beach Atlantic University on Wednesday.
