Clarion took advantage of a 27-13 run to erase a nine-point second half deficit and ended a 15-game losing streak with a 75-67 PSAC victory over the Lady Cats, Wednesday evening in Clarion.Â
Nicole Carman scored 18 points and
Jasmine Harper added a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds for Pitt-Johnstown, which has lost five straight and fell to 9-10 overall and 6-9 in the PSAC West.

In a tight first half, neither team was able to build a lead of more than six.

After falling behind early, Clarion opened-up a 20-15 lead midway through the half on two of Tania Holmes 14 first half points and a Leslie Hoye free-throw.

The Lady Cats came right back with an 11-4 run over the next five minutes to go in front by six.Â
Jamie Tabon's free-throw knotted it at 24, before
Kelsey Sleighter connected on a pair from the charity stripe to put Pitt-Johnstown up 30-24 with 3:23 remaining.

Holmes conventional 3-point play on the Golden Eagles' next possession narrowed it to three, but Pitt-Johnstown hit 10-14 from the free-throw line in the half, including a pair from Harper with 30 seconds left to rebuild the lead to 33-26.

Amesha Harden-Pullium then cut it to 33-28 at the half with a late free-throw for the Golden Eagles.

Pitt-Johnstown came out fast in the second half. Three-pointers from Carman and
Olivia Rizzo sandwiched around a bucket from Holmes quickly increased the Lady Cat lead to nine.

Clarion countered with a 14-6 spurt, capped by Holmes' 3-pointer at 11:32, to get the Golden Eagles to within one at 45-44.

Following the under eight-minute timeout, Clarion held the momentum and extended the run to 27-13 and gave the Golden Eagles a 57-52 advantage on Cara Cook's basket with 6:34 to play.

Back-to-back buckets from
Leah Hansen and Harper got Pitt-Johnstown right back to within one, but another jumper from Cook at 2:24 extended the Clarion lead to 63-56, and Pitt-Johnstown was never able to recover.

Carman had 18 points and eight rebounds and Harper collected 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Sleighter finished with 12 points, while
Olivia McCabe and
Nicole Corcoran each had six points for the Lady Cats.

Carman is currently 22
nd on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,170 points and 15
th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 633. Harper is 25
th on the all-time rebounding list with 518 rebounds, while Sleighter is tied with Erin Meier (1996-00) for 30
th on the scoring list with 1,042 points. Sleighter is also just five 3-pointers shy of Amy Kessler's (1988-92) career mark of 191.
The Lady Cats shot just 34.4% (22-64) from the field and just 7-25 feom behind the 3-point line in the loss. Pitt-Johnstown was also 16-23 from the free-throw line. Clarion ended the night shooting 41.9% (22-62) from the floor, 4-10 from 3-point range, and 19-26 from the charity stripe.

Boyd tallied a game-high 31 points and nine rebounds, while Delrika Jones-Carey chipped-in 12 points and 12 rebounds to pace Clarion, which snapped its 15-game losing streak and improved to 2-18 overall and 1-14 in the PSAC-West

The Lady Cats host a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Slippery Rock on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., before traveling to a conference game at Seton Hill on February 7.Â
