th-ranked California University (PA) outscored the Lady Cats by 23 points over the final 11 minutes of the first half to build a 16-point halftime lead en route to dealing Pitt-Johnstown a 79-64 PSAC loss, Wednesday night in the Sports Center.
Jasmine Harper's 22 points led the Lady Cats, who have lost eight straight games and fell to 9-13 overall and 6-12 in the conference.
The Lady Cats looked good early.
Kelsey Sleighter's 3-pointer seven minutes in put Pitt-Johnstown up five, before a Harper lay-up at 10:45 made it 22-15.
However, it was all California (PA) after that. The Vulcans went on to outscore the Lady Cats 30-7 the rest of the way to build a 16-point halftime advantage.
After falling behind by seven, California (PA) used a 27-3 run to break it open. Four straight free-throws from Kaitlyn Fratz gave the lead back to the Vulcans, and back-to-back 3-pointers from Miki Glenn and Irina Kukolj extended it to 38-24 with five minutes left in the half.
California (PA) wasn't done yet. The Vulcans pushed it out to 17 at 42-25 on Seairra Barrett's bucket at 3:26.
Pitt-Johnstown answered with baskets from
Agnese Aramina and Harper to cut it to 13, but went into the halftime break trailing, 45-19.
A jumper from Lana Doran to open the second half pushed the Vulcans' lead to 18, but Pitt-Johnstown tried to claw back.
Jamie Tabon's driving lay-up at the 13-minute mark cut it to a dozen, and
Nicole Carman followed with a basket for the Lady Cats to get it down to 54-44 with 12:40 to play.
The Lady Cats could not get any closer. California (PA) countered with a 17-2 spurt over the next 5:22 minutes to make it 71-46 on Glenn's free-throws.
California (PA)'s advantage ballooned to as many as 26, before the Vulcans cruised to the 16-point victory.
Harper's 22 points and eight rebounds led all scorers and three Lady Cats who scored in double figures. Carman finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Olivia McCabe tallied 10 points and three rebounds off the bench. Pitt-Johnstown also got five points and six rebounds from Sleighter, and five points from Tabon and six rebounds from Aramina.

th on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,204 points and 14
th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 657. Harper is 22
nd on the all-time rebounding list with 551 rebounds, and 83 points shy of becoming the Lady Cats' 36
th 1,000-point scorer. In addition, Sleighter is 27
th on the scoring list with 1,086 points. Sleighter holds the record for career 3-pointers with 195 and her 68 3-pointers this season are also nine shy of Shelley Helsel's record of 76 set in 1995-96.
Pitt-Johnstown shot just 37.7% (23-61) from the floor, including just 5-16 from 3-point range. The Lady Cats, who out-rebounded the Vulcans 42-39, were also 13-18 from the free-throw line. California (PA) shot 42.9% (30-70) from the field, 3-13 from behind the 3-point line, and 16-19 from the charity stripe.
Kukolj had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Doran chipped-in 15 points to lead a group of six Vulcans who scored in double figures.
With the victory, California (PA) improved to 20-3 overall and 17-2 in the PSAC.
The Lady Cats travel to a PSAC game at Gannon on Saturday, before returning home to play their final two regular season home games. Pitt-Johnstown will host conference doubleheaders with the Mountain Cats against Mercyhurst next Wednesday, and Indiana (PA) for Senior Day on February 21.
