After Indiana University (PA) took game one of Saturday's PSAC doubleheader at Point Stadium,16-7, Pitt-Johnstown bounced back with a 12-8 win in the nightcap behind
Jake Stern's three-run homer and five RBI. The Mountain Cats are now 5-29 overall and 5-13 in the PSAC Western Division.
In the opener, Ryan Uhl's third inning grand slam erased a 4-0 IUP deficit, and the Crimson Hawks went on to the 16-7 win.
Luke Williams went 3-for-4 with solo homerun, while
Lino Bravo singled, tripled, and drove in two for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Sean Sleigh and Stern each doubled and had one RBI in the loss.
Nate Pope fell to 1-7 after allowing seven runs (6 earned) on nine hits over the first five innings. Pope also walked one and struck out four.
In game two, the Mountain Cats scored six first inning runs, highlighted by Stern's three-run homerun, in a 12-8 Pitt-Johnstown victory.
Stern went 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBI. Williams had three more hits and threeRBI, and
Nate Negri had three hits and a pair of RBI for the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown also got a pair of hits from
Ernesto Rizzitano.
Ken Gault picked-up the win in relief of starter
Brantley Rice. Gault pitched the final four innings and held IUP to just one run on two hits. Gault also fanned five to improve to 1-4. Rice surrendered seven eraned runs on eight Crimson Hawks' hits in three innings.
