Dillon Boyer drove in three and
Nate Pope pitched six strong innings to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 6-4 victory over California (PA) in Friday's PSAC West doubleheader opener at Point Stadium. The Vulcans earned the split with a 9-5 win in the nightcap. The Mountain Cats are now 6-32-1 overall and 6-15-1 in conference-play.

In game one, the Mountain Cats scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a tie game, on their way to the 6-4 win.

Luke Williams had a RBI double and Boyer singled home
Nico Pecora and
Lino Bravo to give Pitt-Johnstown a 4-1 lead after four innings.

California (PA) answered with three runs of its own in the fifth to knot it, but the Mountain Cats added two more in the sixth to secure the win. Boyer's run-producing triple gave the lead back to Pitt-Johnstown, and
Sean Sleigh added an insurance run with an RBI double that set the final at 6-4.

Boyer went 2-for-3 three with a triple and 3 RBI, while Sleigh had two hits and drove in one for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Nate Negri and Pecora also had two hits apiece for the Mountain Cats.

Pope improved to 2-7 after allowing four runs on nine hits over the first six innings.Â
Ryan Socol came on and pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his first save of the season.

In game two, the Vulcans opened-up a 5-2 lead in the third inning and went on to earn the split with a 9-5 win.

Bravo had three hits, including a double and a triple, and Negri had two hits and a pair of RBI. Sleigh collected two more base hits, and Williams and Boyer each singled and drove in a run for Pitt-Johnstown.

Brantley Rice suffered the loss for Pitt-Johnstown and fell to 0-4 after surrendering six earned runs on 10 California (PA) hits in 5.1 innings.Â
Logan Fluke tossed the final 1.2 innings and gave up three runs on three hits.

With the Split, California (PA) is now 18-18 overall and 12-10 in the PSAC West.

The Mountain Cats conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader against California (PA) on Saturday in Washington, Pa., before traveling to Slippery Rock on Friday. Pitt-Johnstown will then close out the 2015 season against The Rock with a Senior Day doubleheader on April 25 at 4:30 p.m. at Point Stadium.Â
