After squandering an 18-point first half lead, the Lady Cats outscored Bloomsburg University 20-8 over the final 4:38 to secure a 68-57 victory to kick-off PSAC-play, Saturday afternoon in Bloomsburg.Â
Olivia McCabe and
Jamie Tabon each had double-doubles for the lady Cats, who improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC Western Division.

McCabe finished with game-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Tabon tallied 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals to lead Pitt-Johnstown.

Pitt-Johnstown held Bloomsburg to just 25% shooting in the first half and turned 17 Huskies' turnovers into 11 points to build an 11-point halftime lead.

Bloomsburg shot just 1-10 shooting in the first five minutes to allow the Lady Cat to open-up a quick eight-point lead. McCabe scored four early points, and
Laurel O'Barto knocked down a pair of free-throws at the five minute mark of the first quarter to put the Lady Cats up 10-2. Meghan Corridoni's basket cut the Huskies' deficit to six, but Tabon's lay-up and free-throw with 35 seconds left gave Pitt-Johnstown a 17-8 advantage.

The Lady Cats used an 11-2 run to start the second quarter that pushed it out to an 18-point lead.Â
Victoria Moreland's bucket to open the quarter got it into double-digits, before
Karington Ketterer's free-throw capped the run to make it 28-10 at 3:45. Bloomsburg answered with seven straight points, including Alyssa Mack's 3-pointer as time expired, to narrow the gap to 28-17 at the break.

The Huskies extended the run to 11-0 with baskets from Mack and Megan Klunk in the first minute of the third quarter, before
Nicole Corcoran hit a pair of 3-pointers and O'Barto connected on a free-throw at the 6:21 mark that increased the lead back to 13 at 39-26.

Bloomsburg answered with a 23-9 run over the next 12 minutes to take its first lead of the day at 49-48 on buckets from Taylor Montana and Casey Warley with 4:38 to play. Pitt-Johnstown came right back with a pair of baskets from Tabon and one from McCabe to retake a six-point lead at 3:06 to help the Lady Cats finish on a 20-8 run of their own to pull away.

Along with McCabe and Tabon, Pitt-Johnstown also got 14 points and five assists from O'Barto, eight points from Corcoran, and seven points from Moreland.

The Lady cats, who held a 42-35 advantage in rebounding, shot 40.4% (23-57) from the field, 3-16 from 3-point range, and 19-25 from the charity stripe. After shooting 25% in the first half, Bloomsburg finished the day at 39.0% (23-59). The Huskies were also just 1-9 from behind the 3-point line, and 10-19 from the free-throw line.

Corridoni's 14 points and seven rebounds paced four Bloomsburg players who scored in double figures. Â Mack had 13 points, while Klunk had 10 points and five rebounds, and Alex Ross added 10 points for the Huskies, who dropped to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC East.

The Lady Cats will play a PSAC game at East Stroudsburg on Sunday, before traveling to a non-conference game at Lincoln on November 28. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2016-17 debut with conference doubleheaders with the Mountain Cats against Kutztown on December 3 and Mansfield on December 4 in the Sports Center.Â
