A.J. Leahey poured in a career-high 36 points, but eighth-ranked Kutztown University led wire-to-wire and built an 18-point second half lead, before holding off the Mountain Cats, 96-90, in Saturday's PSAC Crossover game in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC Western Division.

Leahey eclipsed his previous career-high of 32 points, with 36 points on 11-17 shooting from the field, including 6-8 from 3-point range. Leahey was also a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line.

Kutztown, which shot nearly 64% for the game, jumped out to a 20-7 lead on Ryan Connolly's lay-up and free-throw just over six minutes into the game, before the Mountain Cats clawed back to within four on Leahey's 3-pointer three minutes later.

Another Leahey 3-pointer at 5:09 narrowed the gap to 36-33, but the Golden bears used a 17-8 run over the next four minutes to rebuild the lead to a dozen at 55-33 on Howard Stellars' bucket with just four second remaining in the half.

The Golden Bears came out in the second half and got a bucket from Dan Cuevas at 15:40 to push it out to 18 at 87-72.

Kutztown still held a 15-point lead with 5:40 to play, before the Mountain cats stormed back with an 18-6 run to cut it to 93-90 on
Isaac Vescovi's free-throws with 23 second left on the clock.

However, Ethan Ridgeway hit 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in the final 12 seconds to seal the Golden bears' six-point victory.

Leahey led all scorers with 36 points and five rebounds. Vescovi had 23 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while
Josh Wise chipped-in 10 points off the Mountain Cat bench. Pitt-Johnstown also got nine points and six assists from
Rasaun Mosley, seven points and four assists from
Jake Laravie, and five points, four rebounds, and six assists from
Dale Clancy.

With his 36 points, Leahey moved into 16
th-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,190 points and into fourth-place on the all-time 3-point field goals list with 192.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 50.8% (30-59) from the field, 12-23 from 3-point range, and 18-21 from the free-throw line. The Golden Bears ended the evening shooting 63.8 (37-58) shooting from the field and 9-17 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Kutztown was also 13-16 from the charity stripe.

Ridgeway had 21 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, and Josh Johnson added 20 points and six rebounds to lead six Golden Bears who scored in double figures.

With the win, Kutztown remained undefeated and improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC East.

The Mountain Cats host a PSAC doubleheader with the Lady Cats against Mansfield on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before hosting a non-conference game against Penn State-Greater Allegheny on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
