Mansfield University got a game-high 29 points from Matt Tamanosky and built a 13-point second half lead on its way to defeating the Mountain Cats, 78-69, in Sunday's PSAC Crossover game in the Sports Center.Â
Dale Clancy's 18 points led the Mountain Cats, who fell to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC Western Division.

Jake Laravie's 3-pointer three minutes into the game put the Mountain Cats up by five, but Mansfield battled back to regain the lead, 18-16. Tamanosky scored nine early points, and Jahyde Gardiner hit a 3-pointer at 10:54 to give Mansfield the two-point lead.

The Mounties held the lead the remainder of the game and increased it to as many as 10 in the first half on five straight points from Gerasimos Koutoufas, before baskets from
Josh Wise and
Isaac Vescovi to close out the half got Pitt-Johnstown back to within seven at 37-30.

Tamanosky's bucket 3:35 into the second half gave the Mounties their largest lead of the day at 48-35, but Pitt-Johnstown didn't fold and fought all the way back to narrow the gap to a pair on another 3-pointer from Laravie with 4:35 to play.

However, Mansfield never let the Mountain cats regain the lead. Jahmir Green's lay-up at 1:10 pushed the lead back out to eight, and the Mounties went on to make six of eight free-throws in the final 50 seconds to close it out.

Clancy's 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists led four Mountain Cats who scored in double figures.Â
A.J. Leahey had 13 points and eight rebounds, while
Isaac Vescovi scored 13 points, and Wise had 11 points off the bench to round out the double figure scorers. Laravie also had nine points and four assists.

Pitt-Johnstown struggled from the field, shooting just 38.1% (24-63). The Mountain Cats were 10-26 from 3-point range and 11-12 from the free-throw line. Mansfield shot a strong 54.7% (29-53) from the floor, 7-15 from behind the 3-point line, and 13-18 from the charity stripe.

Leahey currently stands in 16
th-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,203 points and into fourth-place on the all-time 3-point field goals list with 193.

Tamanosky led all scorers and three Mounties who scored in double figures with 29 points on 11-13 shooting. He also grabbed nine rebounds. Green had 13 points and Malik Carter chipped-in 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Mansfield, which improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC East.

The Mountain Cats host a non-conference game against Penn State-Greater Allegheny on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before hosting a PSAC Crossover doubleheader with the Lady Cats on Saturday. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
