Olivia McCabe had a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, and
Victoria Moreland hit a pair of free-throws with five second remaining that sealed a 50-47 Pitt-Johnstown non-conference victory at the University of Charleston (WV) on Wednesday. The Lady Cats improved to 6-2 on the season.
Jordyn Peck's lay-up with 1:11 on the clock got Charleston to within one. Darian Apperson had a chance to give the Golden Eagles the lead, but missed a pair of free-throws with 11 second left, before Moreland connected on both of her free-throws with 5 seconds remaining to secure the three-point win.
McCabe's jumper with three minutes left in the first quarter put the lady Cats up 12-5. Pitt-Johnstown got another bucket from McCabe with 4:17 left in the half to increase the lead to a dozen, before the Lady Cats took a 26-21 halftime advantage.
Pitt-Johnstown, which never trailed, pushed the lead back into double digits midway through the third quarter on a basket from
Laurel O'Barto, NCAA Division II's assists leader and
Jamie Tabon's free-throw made it 40-29 late in the quarter.

Another basket in the paint from McCabe to start the fourth quarter gave the lady Cats their largest lead of the night at 42-30.
McCabe had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Tabon added 11 points and five rebounds to pace Pitt-Johnstown.
Madison Kollar scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds, and Moreland had five points. O'Barto, who was credited with just a pair of assists, grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds for the Lady Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown shot 39.6% (21-53) and held the Golden Eagles to just 31.1% (19-61) shooting for the game. The Lady Cats also out-rebounded Charleston 45-36.
Peck's game-high 21 points led the Golden Eagles, who slipped to 4-4 on the year.
Pitt-Johnstown hosts a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Lock Haven on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before hosting a non-conference game against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
