Concord (WV) University used a five-run sixth inning to earn a 7-3 win in Sunday's opener in Beckley, W.Va., before completing the non-conference sweep over the Mountain Cats with an 11-9 victory in the nightcap. With the losses, Pitt-Johnstown fell to 2-5 on the year.

In the opener, Concord scored five runs in the sixth inning to erase a one-run deficit and hand the Mountain Cats a 7-3 loss.

Mason Prickett went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs, while
Nate Negri had two hits, including a double for the Mountain Cats.Â
Dillon Boyer also singled and scored a run.

Brantley Rice started and pitched the first 5-plus innings in the no-decision. Rice allowed three earned runs on eight hits.Â
Ben Foose took the loss in relief after surrendering a pair of earned runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning.Â
Nico Pecora also gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning.

In the nightcap, Concord scored six runs in the second inning to take a 7-4 lead. The Mountain Cats came back with two runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth, before Concord added three more runs in the bottom of the frame to go build the lead to 11-7.

Pitt-Johnstown came back again in the seventh. The Mountain Cats loaded the bases with nobody out and got a one-out single from
Luke Smeltz that chased home Boyer and Prickett to narrow it to 11-9. Negri drew a two-out walk two batters later to reload the bases, but Eli Flynn struck out
Jake Stern to preserve the Concord win.

Ernesto Rizzitano had three hits and two RBI, and Smeltz added two hits, including a triple, a pair of RBI, and three runs for lead Pitt-Johnstown. Negri doubled and drove in two, while Stern had a triple and
Joe Gagliardi doubled.

Ken Gault started and took the loss after giving up six runs (4 earned) on two in the first inning.

With the sweep, Concord improved to 2-6.

The Mountain Cats are scheduled to make their 2016 home debut with a four-game non-conference series against East Stroudsburg University on Friday and Saturday at Point Stadium. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.Â
