The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team used an 11-run first inning en route to a 14-3 victory over Slippery Rock University, before completing the with a 2-1 walk-off win in Saturday's 2016 PSAC opener at Point Stadium. The Mountain Cats improved to 8-10 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC-West.

Pitt-Johnstown exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning off of Slippery Rock starter Alex Pantuso. However, just two were earned.

The Rock answered with three in the fourth, but
Sean Sleigh's two-run single in the Mountain Cat fifth set the final at 14-3.

Sleigh finished 2-4-for with three RBI, and
Nate Negri added a single, a double and three RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Joe Gagliardi chipped in two hits and drove in two, while Jake stern had a double and an RBI, and
Ernesto Rizzitano singled and drove in one.

Brantley Rice tossed a complete-game for the Mountain Cats to improve to 3-0. Rice allowed three runs on five hits. He also fanned two and didn't allow a walk.

In game two, Pitt-Johnstown earned the 2-1 walk-off win.Â
Dillon Boyer singled with one out in the seventh, stole third, and came around to score the game-winner on an error by Slippery Rock third baseman Preston Falascino.

Rizzitano had two hits and accounted for Pitt-Johnstown's lone RBI.

Ty Treaster picked-up the win after pitching a scoreless seventh inning in relief of starter
Camden Hess. Hess pitched the first six innings and held The Rock to one run on five hits. He walked two and struck out five.

With the losses, Slippery Rock dropped to 5-16 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock will conclude the four-game conference series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Consol Energy Park in Washington, Pa. The Mountain Cats will then travel to Gannon University to open a PSAC series on Friday, before wrapping up the series against the Golden Knights on Saturday at Point Stadium.
