Nate Negri collected four hits, but Gannon University dealt the Mountain Cats 3-2 and 6-4 losses to open a four-game, home-and-home PSAC Western Division series Friday afternoon in Erie. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 10-13 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC West.

In game one, Charles Benack's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a tie game and lifted the Golden Knights to the 3-2 victory.

Negri had two doubles, while
Jake Stern and
Sean Sleigh each singled and drove in a run to lead Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Luke Williams and
Joe Gagliardi also had base hits for the Mountain Cats.

Brantley Rice suffered the tough loss after allowing three earned runs on seven hits in six innings of work.

In the nightcap, Gannon erased a one-run deficit with two runs in each of the third and fourth innings, and held on for the 6-4 victory.

Negri had two more hits and an RBI, while Sleigh doubled and drove in a run for the Mountain Cats Williams singled and had an RBI, and
Dillon Boyer and Stern each had one hit in two official at-bats.

Camden Hess pitched the first six innings for Pitt-Johnstown and surrendered six earned runs on nine Gannon hits to fall to 0-1. Hess also fanned five and walked two.

With the sweep, the Golden Knights improved to 18-5 overall and 6-0 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown will wrap-up the four-game PSAC series against Gannon with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium, before hosting Seton Hill University on Friday to start a four-game conference series.Â
