Gannon University collected 37 hits on its way to completing the four-game PSAC Western Division series sweep over the Mountain Cat baseball team with 16-1 and 16-6 wins on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 10-15 overall and 3-5 in conference-play.

In the opener, Gannon send 11 hitters to the plate and struck for six runs in the top of the first off of Pitt-Johnstown starter
Ken Gault and coasted to the 16-1 victory.Â

Nick Restuccia's two-run single in the Gannon first made it 5-0, and Jared Wiesen followed with an RBI double, before
Luke Miller relieved Gault and got Mark DeVita to ground out to second to end the inning.

Restuccia's two-run single up the middle in the Golden Knights' second increased to 9-0., but back-to-back doubles from Kylan Kerstetter and
Joe Gagliardi in the Mountain Cats' second cut it to 9-1.

Gannon added another run in the third on a
Ben Foose balk that scored Chris Beer and six more in the fifth, highlighted by Nate Cardy's three-run homerun to extend it to 16-1.

Gagliardi had an RBI double, while Smeltz and Kerstetter also doubled for Pitt-Johnstown.

Gault took the loss after allowing six runs (5 earned) in just .2 innings.

Restuccia went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBI to lead Gannon. Santiago Mendez earned the win and improved to 5-0 for the Golden Knights after holding the Mountain Cats to just one earned run on five hits over the first six innings.

In game two, Gannon broke open a one-run game with nine runs over the final three innings to complete the sweep with the 16-6 win.

Cardy's RBI single in the top of the first chased home Wiesen from third. Cardy came through again in the second with a two-run single to help the Golden Knights go up 4-0.

Pitt-Johnstown came back with three on five straight hits in the bottom of the second. Kerstetter and
Devon Walker singled with one out. Â
Nico Pecora doubled home Kerstetter, and
Ernesto Rizzitano and Smeltz each had RBI singles.

Gannon answered with three runs of its own in the third to rebuild the lead to 7-3, but the Mountain Cats scored three in the fourth, including
Nate Negri's two run homer to left-center.

However, that was as close as Pitt-Johnstown would get.

Smeltz was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Pecora doubled, tripled, and drove in one for the Mountain Cats. Kerstetter added two hits and Negri had a two-run homer.

Tyler Black started and took the loss to fall to 0-2 after surrendering four runs (1 earned) in two innings.

With the sweep, Gannon improved to 20-5 overall and 8-0 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against Seton Hill University on Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium, before traveling to Greensburg on Saturday to conclude the four-game series on Saturday.Â
