Jake Stern had three hits, and
Sean Sleigh added three RBI to lead the Mountain Cats to a 10-8 victory over Seton Hill in Friday's PSAC Western Division series opener at Point Stadium. In the nightcap,
Luke Williams belted a three-run homer, but Seton Hill was able to secure the split with a 6-4 win. Pitt-Johnstown is now 11-16 overall and 4-6 in conference-play.

In game one, Pitt-Johnstown used a seven-run fifth inning to battle back from a four run deficit to secure the 10-8victory.

Seton Hill loaded the bases with no outs to start the game, but
Brantley Rice got Chris Miller to hit into a double play and held the Griffins to just one run.
Â
Colton Carney's single up the middle drove in a pair in a four-run Seton Hill third inning that increased it to 5-0.

Pitt-Johnstown answered with three unearned runs in its half of the third.Â

Nate Negri and Williams each followed with RBI singles.

The Griffins added two more in the fifth to make it 7-3 on Tyler Sullivan's single to right-center, but the Mountain Cats exploded for seven runs of their own to take their first lead of the day.Â
Sean Sleigh's double down the left field line scored Negri and
Dillon Boyer, and
Luke Williams ground rule double plated Sleigh.Â
Ernesto Rizzitano then singled up the middle to chase home Williams and eventually scored on a wild pitch to Pitt-Johnstown the lead. The Mountain Cats went on to tack on two more unearned runs in the inning to go in front 10-7.

The Griffins got one back in the top of the sixth, but
Tyler Black held Seton Hill scoreless over the final 1.2 innings to preserve the 10-8 win and earn his first save.

Stern went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Sleigh singled, doubled and drove in three for the Mountain Cats. Williams also had two hits, including a double and two RBI.

Nathan Bearer picked-up the win in relief of Rice and evened his record at 1-1 after allowing three runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work. Rice pitched the first three innings, and surrendered five runs on seven hits in the no-decision.

In game two, Pitt-Johnstown built a 4-1 lead after two innings, but the Griffins responded with five runs in the third and held the Mountain Cats scoreless the rest of the way.

Garret Vrbanic deposited
Ben Foose's second pitch of the game over the left field screen to put Seton Hill up 1-0, but Williams belted a long, 3-run homer to left center in the Pitt-Johnstown first to give the lead right back to the Mountain Cats.

Negri's two-out RBI double in the second increased it to 4-1, before the Griffins scored five runs on five hits in the top of the third to regain the lead, 6-4.

Seton Hill starter Mike Bittel settled down and kept Pitt-Johnstown scoreless the rest of the way in the complete-game effort.

Williams homered and drove in three, and Negri added a double and an RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.

Ben Foose suffered the loss and slipped to 1-2. Foose allowed all six runs on six Seton Hill hits over the first 2.2 innings. The Mountain Cats also got four scoreless inning of one-hit baseball from
Shane Supanick out of the bullpen.

With the split, the Griffins are now 20-9 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Greensburg on Saturday to conclude the four-game PSAC series against Seton Hill, before hosting a conference doubleheader against Clarion on Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium.Â
