Jake Stern and
Luke Williams each belted homeruns to help the Mountain Cats erase a five-run deficit and defeat Clarion, 15-8, in Tuesday's PSAC West doubleheader opener in Clarion. Pitt-Johnstown completed the sweep with a 21-4 win in game two behind
Luke Smeltz's grand slam to improve to 15-22 overall and 8-12 in the PSAC West.

In game one, the Golden Eagles scored five runs in the second inning, highlighted by Josh Ponsoll's three-run homer, to build a 6-1 lead.

However, Pitt-Johnstown stormed back with seven runs over the next two innings, before breaking it open with seven more in the seventh.

In the Mountain Cat third inning, Stern drew a bases loaded walk, Williams and
Mason Prickett each had RBI singles, and
Joe Gagliardi's sacrifice fly scored
Nate Negri to cut it to 6-5.

Pitt-Johnstown struck for three more in the fourth to take the lead and added seven runs on seven hits in the seventh. Stern led off the inning with a solo homerun, and Williams drove in a pair with a double to the gap in left center, and the Mountain Cats coasted to the 15-8 victory.

Williams homered, doubled, and drove in four, while Stern homered and had three RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Prickett had two hits and RBI, and
Dillon Boyer collected a single and a double and drove in one. The Mountain Cats also got two hits from
Dylan Conrad.

Ben Foose earned the win on the mound to even his record at 2-2 after allowing six runs (5 earned) and 11 hits over the first 5.1 innings.

Along with Ponsoll's three-run homerun, Clarion got three this and two RBI from Tyler Falk and three hits from John Finke.

In the nightcap, the Mountain Cats scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to the sweep.

Stern went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Boyer had two hits and four RBI. Smeltz connected for a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning. Conrad doubled, tripled and drove in three, and
Nico Pecora and Williams had two RBI apiece.

Logan Fluke picked-up his first win of the season after giving up four earned runs on six hits over the first four innings.

With the losses, Clarion fell to 5-26 overall and 2-18 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown opens a four-game conference series with Indiana (PA) on Friday at 1 and 3 p.m. at Point Stadium, before concluding the series in Indiana on Saturday.Â
