Pitt-Johnstown used 24 hits, including a homerun and four hits from
Scott Thompson, in a 20-11 non-conference win at Concord on Saturday. The Mountain Cats improved to 7-2.
Pitt-Johnstown opened-up an 11-2 lead in the sixth inning, before adding nine more in the seventh on its way to the victory.
Thompson went 4-for-5 with a homerun, a double and five RBI, while
Dillon Boyer had four hits and drove in four and had four hits and four RBI. The Mountain Cats also got three hits and a pair of RBI from
Joe Gagliardi, three hits from
Dan Clark, and two hits and two RBI from
Brett Hileman.
Brantley Rice improved to 2-0 after surrendering five runs (1 earned) on four hits over the first six innings. Rice also walked three and struck out five.
Nathan Bearer pitched the final three innings to earn his first save of the year.
With the loss, Concord fell to 2-8.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps up the series at Concord with a doubleheader on Sunday, then travels to the University of Charleston on March 4 and 5, before making its 2017 home debut with a non-conference doubleheader against Lock Haven on March 8 at Point Stadium.
