After suffering a 7-3 loss to East Stroudsburg to open a four-game series in Dinwiddie, Va.,
Luke Williams' belted a 3-run home run in an eight-run fifth inning to lift Pitt-Johnstown to a 9-3 victory in the nightcap. The Mountain Cats are now 9-8.
In the opener, East Stroudsburg jumped on Pitt-Johnstown starter
Brantley Rice for four first inning runs and went on to the 7-3 win.
Jack Shirt went 2-for-4 with a RBI, while
Dylan Kerstetter added two hits to lead the Mountain Cats.
Scott Thompson added a two-run double.
Rice took the loss and slipped to 2-1 after allowing five runs (4 earned) on seven hits over the first four innings.
Shane Supanick pitched the final three innings and held the Warriors to a pair of runs on three hits.
In game two, Pitt-Johnstown erased a two-run deficit with eight runs in the fifth inning to secure the split with a 9-3 win.
Williams hit a 3-run homer, and
Evan Appleby and Shirk each drove in two. The Mountain Cats also got RBIs from
Dan Clark and
Brett Hileman.
Brady Walker improved to 2-1 after tossing six innings and giving up just three runs (2 earned) on six East Stroudsburg hits.
Brad Coleman allowed two hits in a scoreless seventh inning.
With the split, East Stroudsburg is now 8-6.
Pitt-Johnstown's will wrap-up the four-game non-conference series against East Stroudsburg with a doubleheader on Saturday, before hosting a non-conference game against West Liberty (WV) on Tuesday and a PSAC doubleheader against California (PA) on Friday.
