Luke Williams hit his team-leading seventh home run of the season, but East Stroudsburg swept the Mountain Cats, 3-1 and 10-4, Saturday afternoon in Dinwiddie, VA. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 9-10 on the year.
In game one, East Stroudsburg managed just three hits off of a pair of Pitt-Johnstown pitchers, but made the most of them in the 3-1 win.
Williams' fielders' choice RBI in the top of the first gave the Mountain Cats an early lead, but the Warriors struck for three runs in the second.
Conner Crookham and Connor Johnson combined to hold Pitt-Johnstown to just one hit, a
Jack Shirk single to right field in the first inning.
Trent Martin tossed the first 5 2/3 innings for the Mountain Cats and allowed three runs on three hits, while striking out five and walking three.
Dan Clark walked one but got the final out in the sixth inning.
In game two, Williams homered and drove in two, broke open a one-run game with five runs in the sixth to complete the sweep with the 10-4 win.
Scott Thompson tripled and drove in one, while
Brett Hileman had an RBI single, and Shirk added a double and scored two runs for the Mountain Cats.
Nate Bearer took the loss and dropped to 1-1 after giving up five runs (3 earned) on eight hits over the first four innings.
Ben Foose surrendered one run in the fifth, and
Brad Coleman allowed four runs on three hits in the sixth for Pitt-Johnstown.
With the sweep, East Stroudsburg took three of the four games in the weekend series and improved to 10-6.
