Evan Appleby homered, but Lock Haven scored seven runs over the final three innings to earn a 14-10 victory over the Mountain Cats in Pitt-Johnstown's 2017 home opener, Wednesday afternoon at Point Stadium. The Mountain Cats slipped to 8-7.

Joe Gagliardi each had two hits and drove in a run for Pitt-Johnstown. Appleby homered had two RBI.

Matt Monko took the loss in relief in a game that the Mountain Cats used seven pitchers. Monko gave up three runs on four hits in 2/3 of an inning. Nate Bearer started and held Lock Haven scoreless on just one hit over the first two innings.

Pitt-Johnstown's three-game non-conference series against Winston-Salem State (NC) on Saturday and Sunday has been cancelled due to weather. The Mountain Cats will host a four-game non-conference series against East Stroudsburg on March 17-18 and a single game against West Liberty (WV) on March 21.
