
The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team used a strong first quarter to defeat Cheyney University, 77-49 at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center. The Mountain Cats were led by
Alli McGrath's game-high 25 points. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC West. Cheyney fell to 0-13 on the season.

The Mountain Cats opened up the game on a 17-2 run, capped off on a
Maddie Shanahan layup with 4:20 remaining in the first quarter. Pitt-Johnstown opened up a 17-point first quarter lead when McGrath knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:30 left in the first quarter.

In the second quarter with 8:53 remaining, Gianni Hill knocked down a 3-pointer to cut the Mountain Cats lead to 10, 24-14. Cheyney would cut the lead to eight points, before back-to-back 3-pointers from McGrath and Nunn.

The Mountain Cats opened up their biggest lead of the game when
Gabrielle Smith found a cutting
Katie Bolden for the layup with 8:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Mountain Cats saw ten players score and was led by McGrath's 25-points. Smith chipped in 17 and Shanahan finished the game with 12.

The Mountain Cats return to action Dec.19 when they host Millersville University, before hosting Clarion (Pa.) University Jan. 2.
