Ty Treese belted a grand slam, but Fairmont State (WV) University outscored the Mountain Cats 12-4 over the final three innings to defeat Pitt-Johnstown, 17-9, to close out a 3-game series in Mooresville, NC on Friday. Pitt-Johnstown is now 1-2.
Along with Treese's grand slam, Pitt-Johnstown got three hits, including a double from
Scott Thompson, and a pair of RBI from
Cameron Gerhard.
Joel Colledge got his first collegiate start and allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings, but fellow freshman
Braxton Roxby took the loss in relief after surrendered three runs in the seventh.
With the win, Fairmont State improved to 5-3 to begin the season.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Concord (WV) University for a three-game, non-conference schedule on February 24-15 and to the University of Charleston (WV) on March 3-4. The Mountain Cats will make their 2018 home debut at Point Stadium with a three-game series against Shippensburg on March 16-17.
