The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will wrap-up the regular season with a PSAC doubleheader against Mercyhurst, Wednesday night in the Sports Center, before beginning postseason-play on Monday. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game against the Lakers to follow at 7:30 p.m.
Pitt-Johnstown, under sixth-year
Head Coach Mike Drahos, clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament and improved to 13-14 overall and 9-11 in the conference following Saturday's 65-61 Senior Day win over Slippery Rock.
Alli McGrath poured in a game-high 28 points and pulled down five rebounds, and
Gabrielle Smith collected 23 points to lead the Mountain Cats.
After reaching the 1,000-point milestone at Seton Hill on Wednesday, Smith scored 23 more points against Slippery Rock on Saturday and moved into 36
th-place on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,034 career points. She is now just 21 points shy of climbing six spots and tying
Janet Kartovicky (1983-87) for 30
th-place on the scoring list.
Nationally, Smith ranks 27
th in points per game (19.3 ppg.) and second in both free-throws made (215) and attempted (267), while
Nicole Olkosky is 50
th in blocked shots (43) and McGrath is 68
th in scoring (17.2 ppg.).
Head Coach Deanna Richard's (12
th season) Mercyhurst Lakers, 9-17 overall and 6-13 in the PSAC, have lost their last two games, including a 62-60 setback at Gannon on Saturday.
Nicolete Newman scored 16 points, and
Amber Renz and
Eliza Oswalt each had 11 points.

Pitt-Johnstown traveled to Erie on January 21 and came away a 67-57 victory behind Smith's game-highs of 21 points and eight rebounds.

McGrath added 15 and 14 points respectively for the Mountain Cats. Mercyhurst was led by
Jenna Kunst's 17 points, while
Renz had 11 points and
Shopene chipped-in 10 points.
Pitt-Johnstown, which will be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the Western Division, will open the PSAC Tournament on Monday at a site and time to be determined. The winner will advance to the PSAC Quarterfinals next Wednesday.
Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cats, 15-12 overall and 10-10 in the PSAC West, clinched the No. 4 seed and will host an opening round conference tournament game on Monday after celebrating Senior Day with a 98-84 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Josh Wise, the PSAC West Co-Player of the Week, scored a game-high 30 points, and
Fred Mulbah and
John Paul Kromka each scored 15 points to lead five Pitt-Johnstown players who scored in double figures against the Rock.
Caiden Landis had 12 points, and
Marcin Wiszomirski added 11 points off the bench.
Wise enters Wednesday's game ranked 23
rd on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,109 points, just one point shy of Paul Byer (2002-05) for 22
nd-place on the list.
Nationally, Kromka ranks fifth in blocks (70), seventh in blocks per game (2.59), and ninth in field goal percentage (63.0%), and Mulbah is 60th in assists per game (5.0), And 72nd in total assists (124).
Mercyhurst, the No. 3-seed in the West for the PSAC Tournament has won its last three games and comes in at 19-5 overall and 14-5 in the PSAC under 15

Mercyhurst holds a 24-22 lead in the series that dates back to the 1971-72 season. The Lakers have won the last five meetings, including a 74-69 win in Erie on January 21. Wise and Landis had 21 and 15 points respectively, and Kromka added 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Maxwell had a game-high 31 points, Massey scored 15 points, and
MiyKah McIntosh had 12 points for the Lakers.
The Mountain Cats will host a first-round PSAC Tournament game against the West No. 5-seed, which is yet to be determined, on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center. The winner will advance to the PSAC Quarterfinals at the top-seeded team, which also has not been determined, next Wednesday.
