Mountain Cats to Make Home Debut on Friday against Shippensburg

Johnstown, PA

Head Coach Todd Williams' and the Pitt-Johnstown baseball team, 9-4 on the year, make their 2019 home debut with a non-conference doubleheader against Shippensburg on Friday afternoon at Point Stadium.  Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. with game two to follow approximately 30 after the completion of the opener.

Pitt-Johnstown took 3-of-4 from West Liberty (WV) last weekend. Brady Walker, the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week on March 4, tossed a complete-game in a 7-2 win in Saturday's opener.  The Mountain Cats completed the sweep with a 9-3 win in the nightcap.  On Sunday, Cameron Gerhard's bases loaded walk in the ninth inning lifted Pitt-Johnstown to an 8-7 win.  The Hilltoppers took the finale, 5-3.

Shippensburg, under 13th-year Head Coach Matt Jones, dropped two games at Shepherd on Wednesday and fell to 5-7.  Logan Williamson homered and drove in two, and Jacob Pollock had two hits and two RBI in the opener.  In game two, Chase Zurawski and Zack Zoller each had two hits and one RBI.

Last season, the Raiders swept a pair of games from the Mountain Cats.  On March 17 in Shippensburg, Grant Hoover and Drew Bene each drove in three runs in an 18-6 win in game one.  In the nightcap, Gabe Mosser held Pitt-Johnstown hitless and fanned 10 to help Shippensburg complete the sweep with a 4-0 victory.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Shippensburg on Saturday, before hosting a non-conference game against Lock Haven on Tuesday and a PSAC doubleheader against Mercyhurst on March 22.
