Head Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cat baseball team, 12-6 on the season, will open-PSAC play with a doubleheader against 11th-ranked Mercyhurst University, Saturday afternoon at Point Stadium.  Game one is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the opener.

Pitt-Johnstown hit four homeruns, including a pair from Zach Zinn, in a 13-8 non-conference win over Lock Haven on Tuesday.  Zinn went 4-for-5 with four RBI for the Mountain Cats.  Ben Briggs earned his first collegiate win after pitching four innings in relief.

Head Coach Joe Spano's (20^th year) 11^th-ranked Mercyhurst squad comes in at 8-2 after splitting a pair of home games with Saginaw Valley State (MI) last weekend. The Lakers earned a 7-0 win behind homeruns from Jack Elliott and Matthew Schneider on Friday.  PSAC West Pitcher of the Week Matthew Minnick tossed five hitless innings and fanned nine.  Saginaw Valley State took the second game, 8-1.

Last year, Mercyhurst took 3-of-4 from the Mountain Cats.  On May 4, the Lakers won 10-0 and 10-3 in Erie.  Mercyhurst took game one on May 5 at Point Stadium, 6-3, but Pitt-Johnstown got a 7-6 win in game two behind Tyler Smith and Tanner Cook's two hits and one RBI apiece.

Pitt-Johnstown will complete the four-game PSAC series against the Lakers on Sunday in Erie, before visiting Indiana (PA) next Friday to open a four-game home-and-home conference series against the Crimson Hawks.
